Professor Xinghui Xia is a Ph.D supervisor in School of Environment, Beijing Normal University. Xia’s research filed is the water environment at a catchment scale, with a particular interest in the interaction between water-sediment-pollutants (carbon and nitrogen etc.). Her research is mainly focused on: 1) fraction and bioavailability of toxic organic compounds in aquatic environments; 2) the cycle of nitrogen and carbon in river system as well as the influence of water-sediment conditions on their transportation and transformation and the emission of greenhouse gases; 3) the influence of climate change and human activities (hydraulic engineering) on water quality at a catchment scale. She has published 93 peer-reviewed articles indexed by SCI, of which 36 papers were published in the top journals including Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Hydrology and Water Research, etc.
Professor Xia was academic visitors of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Imperial College London and University of Regina. She was awarded with “China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists”, “Education Ministry's New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Plan”, “Beijing Science and Technology Leader Talent Training Project”. Currently, she is the standing committee of the water environment branch of the China Environmental Science Society; member of the Environmental and Geography Committee, the Geographical Society of China; editorial board member of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and other multiple international journals. She presided over 20 international programs including the National "973" issues and the State Key program of National Natural Science Foundation of China; she has won the second class National Natural Science Award as the first completer, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Advance Award, the first prize of Natural Science of Beijing, the first prize of the Ministry of Education Natural Science, the first prize for Scientific and Technological Progress and the Mao Yisheng Beijing Youth Science and Technology Award.
